Position Summary:
The Director of Business Applications is responsible for implementation, configuration, user adoption, maintenance, security and operational support of the firm enterprise and web applications, including Customer Relationship Management/Association Management (CRM / AMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for finance, human resources, budgeting/forecasting, contracting and resource allocation and Knowledge Management (KM) for document/content management, business intelligence, collaboration, and intranet plus public-facing websites and apps. The environment consists of commercial solutions such as Salesforce and Adaptive Planning along with internal extensions, integrations, and customizations.
This position manages the team of business analysts, developers, QA/testers, and DBAs responsible for ensuring the firm realizes maximum mission impact and business value from its investments in IT applications. This position works closely with the CIO, CFO, and business teams to select, implement and support technical solutions. It is incumbent on this individual to stay abreast of changing technologies and marketplace solutions and IT-related business opportunities to support the CIO and serve as a pathfinder and technical expert to the leadership and the IT team.
Position Responsibilities:
* Work with the CIO and senior IT staff to develop and implement an overarching Enterprise Architecture, based on an understanding of business needs, processes and risk posture, which realizes the IT strategy within existing resource constraints, leveraging commercial and internally developed software solutions, data structures, and infrastructure to create an information technology environment that furthers enterprise goals and objectives
* Work closely with business leads to understand their business objectives and processes, providing guidance in leveraging applications to increase mission impact, effectiveness, and efficiency.
* Drive the Project Proposal Intake process, working closely with key stakeholders to develop project proposals and identify viable options for meeting business needs and opportunities that to further realize the firms's Information Technology strategy
* Work closely with senior leadership, the IT team and other stakeholders to implement, configure, integrate, design, build, deploy applications
* Maintain accurate program estimates, timelines, project plans, and status reports
* Manage and escalates delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes associated to the product development initiatives
* Keep the firm's applications up-to-date on current versions and platforms, coordinating QA, Release/Upgrade implementation, database, system administration, training and user adoption
* Ensure appropriate confidentiality, data integrity, availability, authentication and access control methods are in place
* Act as an advocate for security and performance and monitor compliance with standards.
* Drive speed-to-insight and improved decision-making, leading efforts to enhance Business Intelligence capabilities, through data warehouse, reporting and analytics toolsets, ensuring trust in data through solid data governance and enabling end-users to drive data-driven decision making.
* Coordinate efforts to ensure the integrity and ongoing operation of the firm's information technology, to provide high availability and business continuity.
* Enthusiastically builds synergy and focus for all IT staff members across applications, database and hosting, security, infrastructure and server maintenance responsibilities;
* Understands technology deeply at both the server/network level and at the application level, understands where the gaps often are between these two, and is excited about filling those gaps and taking proactive steps to prevent application emergencies from ever happening.
* Ensures effective issue tracking, handling and documentation processes are well implemented and executed.
* Work within IT, cross-functionally and with vendors, to successfully identify, prioritize, and resolve issues.
* Responsible for complex technology management coordination with multiple vendors and staff.
* Responsible for the development of standards and processes for operations to proactively prevent problems .
* Identify process improvement and technology opportunities to further our work.

Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Excellent working knowledge of enterprise-class CRM, ERP, and Content/Knowledge Management and Collaboration solutions.
* Excellent working knowledge of Cloud-based architectures (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) and key products.
* Possesses high level understanding in the areas of business and web application programming, content management systems, API, databases, and system design
* Experience in a management role with Dev-Ops type approachesre, maintaining applications, servers and IT infrastructure with a high-availability, privacy and security conscious environment.
* Project estimation, planning and management skills, time management, and resource assignment. Ability to understand internal and external customer needs, to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust with all staff and confidence in the team's knowledge of and concern for business requirements and user experience.
* Ability to analyze and rapidly assimilate constantly evolving technologies and apply them as potential solutions to business opportunities and needs.
* Demonstrated expertise in database and business intelligence technologies, familiarity with data warehouse, analytics, machine learning and data mining techniques.
* Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts/theories.
* A passion for providing outstanding User Experiences for internal and external customers.
Position Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, Master's degree desirable
* Extensive Information Technology project management experience
* Possesses expert technical understanding of the intersection of application implementation/development and operations (DevOps), monitoring and management tools, and deployment processes and tools
* 6 years' experience managing a team consisting of project managers, architects, analysts, developers, designers, QA/testers, and administrators. A track record as a coach, mentor, and developer of talent
* An ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to detail
* An ability to quickly identify and drive to the optimal solution when presented with a series of constraints
* Demonstrated ability in people management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, and project management
* Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
* Resolves conflicts by demonstrating leadership and appropriate decision-making competencies
* Is a natural improver, always striving to improve processes, technology and systems.
