How Mastering Your Body Language Can Help You Succeed [VIDEO]

Telltale twitching, nervous hand-kneading – when in a stressful situation like a job interview, our body unconsciously sends out signals communicating our discomfort. Competent sales manager, or a sweaty bundle of nerves?

Even the smallest gestures can decide what kind of impression a candidate leaves on their interview partner. To kick off our video series on Headhunting and Active Sourcing, we’ve spoken with Tatjana Strobel, an expert on body language. Listen to her advice on how mastering your body language can help you make a fantastic first impression in your next interview with a headhunter.

The worst mistakes in an interview are those that candidates don’t even realize they’re making – like nervously tugging on your clothes, for example. When you twitch and twist in your chair, you’re hardly communicating self confidence. “Remain authentic, and try to establish your inner security,” recommends Tatjana Strobel.

With your legs shoulder-width apart, a relaxed posture, and open body language, these tips will certainly benefit you in your interview, according to the experts. And of course, the handshake of a candidate is a deciding factor – no hiring manager wants to be greeted with a clammy, cold handshake. However, when you pay attention to a few minor details, you can convey your competencies and confidence. Watch the video above for even more body language tips from Tatjana Strobel.
