In this leadership role, you will steer the underwriting of complex representations and warranties transactions and shape the M&A insurance offering. You collaborate with brokers, lawyers, PE principals, and corporate professionals to structure, underwrite, and negotiate insurance solutions. You’ll guide senior underwriting decisions, coach junior team members, and contribute to marketing and product development. This position combines technical risk assessment with client-facing leadership to drive profitable growth and solid relationships. You will help advance the group’s strategy and elevate underwriting standards across the function.

Responsibilities
- Lead the underwriting of complex R&W transactions and analyze deal documents and due diligence.
- Structure, underwrite, and negotiate transactional insurance solutions with emphasis on R&W.
- Act as a primary contact for clients, advisors, brokers, and deal professionals, providing clear guidance.
- Conduct background research on transaction parties and industries; assess motivations and value of insurance in deals.
- Review relevant documentation to assess risk and determine coverage, structure, pricing, and risk selection.
- Prepare and negotiate non-binding indications, policies, and binder agreements.
- Lead and participate in underwriting conference calls; manage external counsel and advisors.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to less experienced underwriters and analysts; promote consistent practices.
- Contribute to relationship development and the marketing plan; develop materials for clients and brokers.
- Help shape product strategy, appetite, portfolio quality, broker engagement, and profitable growth initiatives.
Key requirements
- At least 7 years of professional experience in M&A legal, underwriting, corporate finance, or related field.
- At least 3 years of direct underwriting experience with M&A insurance products.
- Significant experience with insurance sector or financial institutions and understanding of underwriting discipline.
Strong written and oral communication; drafting clear legal and commercial documents.Proven negotiation and relationship-management capabilities; influence outcomes with sophisticated advisors and clients.Leadership and mentorship; collaboration across functions, geographies, and seniority levels.Advanced understanding of complex M&A transactions and drafting of transaction documents.Strong financial and commercial acumen; ability to analyze earnings, due diligence materials, and financial statements.Negotiation expertise and ability to lead discussions with brokers, legal advisors, and clients.
