Responsibilities

Underwrite complex DI cases end-to-end and make sound decisions
Serve as a subject matter expert through field training and partner education
Deliver competitive underwriting decisions balancing placement and profitability
Provide exceptional underwriting consultation to agents, brokers, field staff, and partners
Communicate underwriting decisions clearly to facilitate customer understanding
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration
Drive continuous improvement and support operational excellence through process enhancements
Mentor and coach less experienced underwriters on complex issues and customer service

Key requirements

5+ years of underwriting individual disability insurance
Approval authority of $15K+ in IDI underwriting
Exams toward industry designations (e.g., DIA/DIF, AALU/FALU, FMLI) is a plus
Bachelor’s degree preferred in ideal qualifications
7+ years of underwriting IDI (ideal)
Approval limits in ideal qualifications: $20K+ IDI, $50K+ BOE, $750K+ Buy Sell without second signature
