In this role, you lead the Partnership Districts model and initiatives to lift low-performing schools in Michigan, aligning with the Top 10 Strategic Education Plan. You collaborate with MDE, CEPI, and community partners to drive student achievement, teacher development, and strategic planning. You provide direction to ensure compliance with state/federal rules and policy, and you shape district-level supports through cross-agency coordination. This is an impact‑driven position at the center of Michigan’s education reform efforts.

Responsibilities
- Approve partnership agreements aimed at improving achievement in lowest performing schools
- Ensure alignment of district initiatives with the Top 10 Strategic Education Plan and department goals
- Provide leadership, supervision, and coordination for partnership district activities
- Coordinate with MDE offices, CEPI, and community partners to improve student achievement and teacher development
- Identify and connect new partners with districts and provide technical assistance as needed
- Reduce barriers to success for districts/schools and monitor implementation of partnership services
- Oversight of adherence to federal/state statutory and regulatory requirements and department policies
Key requirements
- Two years of experience as a director or assistant director of an office or central office
- Five years of teaching/leadership experience in an urban district (preferred)
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be evaluated
