In this Transportation Engineer role at HDR, you will support the engineering development of highway projects under a Project Manager, oversee CAD Designers, and prepare detailed roadway designs. You will participate from site feasibility through final design and construction, and may take on project management duties with client interaction. You will work within HDR’s employee-owned, inclusive culture to deliver impactful transportation solutions for urban and rural settings. You will apply CAD tools and BIM workflows to shape road networks, traffic management, and interchange design, contributing to HDR’s mission of making a positive impact.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering development of urban and rural highway projects under a Project Manager
  • Oversee CAD Designers and possibly other EITs
  • Prepare detailed roadway and highway designs
  • Participate from site feasibility to final design and construction
  • Perform project management duties and interact with clients as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • PE or P.Eng license recognized by the licensing board
  • 3+ years experience in roadway engineering design
  • Hands-on experience with Civil 3D; Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk InfraWorks and Civil3D
  • MS Office knowledge
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with urban and rural highway interchanges, intersections, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
  • Active participation in an employee-owned culture
