As Technical Director, you will lead PFAS-focused site investigation and remediation efforts within ERM’s global SIR team, shaping technical strategy and guiding projects for diverse clients. You’ll collaborate with North American leadership to craft a global PFAS go-to-market approach, mentor teams, and strengthen client relationships. The role blends technical depth with strategic leadership to advance ERM’s sustainability objectives. This is a high-impact, senior-level opportunity in a global environmental firm.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as PFAS SME on projects spanning site investigation, remediation, product stewardship, and compliance
  • Help develop a global PFAS go-to-market strategy with NA leadership
  • Oversee and mentor teams on site investigation and remediation for diverse industries
  • Oversee design and installation of remedial solutions using innovative and traditional technologies
  • Assist clients in contaminated site management strategy development
  • Evaluate remedial technologies for site-specific applicability
  • Perform remediation design tasks including data evaluation, calculations, and cost estimation
  • Delegate project tasks and mentor junior staff
  • Prepare technical proposals and support business development with clients and leads
  • Foster collaboration with ERM colleagues globally

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or geology/hydrogeology
  • 8 years minimum consulting experience; 15 years preferred with major industrial clients
  • Expertise in PFAS topics with publications or conference presentations
  • Experience leading a remediation design project and preparing technical/environmental reports
  • Experience interacting with regulators and clients to advance projects
  • Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and people skills
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour and OSHA 30-hour training (up-to-date)
