In this role, you will help migrate Virtual Research Environments to a modern cloud-based platform, working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver a scalable research service. You’ll combine infrastructure automation, cloud tech, and software development to support researchers and scientific users. You’ll collaborate with solution architects, developers, and partners to design solutions that are robust, secure, and aligned with platform modernization goals. The position offers hands-on work across cloud and on-prem environments with meaningful impact on research infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Migrate Ansible-based environments to a cloud-hosted research platform
- Design and implement platform API integrations
- Develop and maintain Python/Django applications
- Gather and analyse business and technical requirements from stakeholders
- Translate requirements into scalable technical solutions with solution architects
- Support infrastructure automation and platform modernization initiatives
- Contribute to a stable and secure research environment
Key requirements
- Strong experience with Ansible and infrastructure automation
- Commercial experience with Python development
- Experience developing and supporting Django applications
- Experience with virtualization technologies (OpenStack, VMware)
- Knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles
- Experience integrating with APIs
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
