As a Technical Author at Damen Services, you translate complex ship technical information into clear, user-friendly manuals for safe and efficient operation. You join the Asset Management Design team to shape vessel operating manuals and related documentation. You will tackle diverse challenges from research to writing and project leadership, maintaining high quality and timely delivery. This role offers exposure to international, technology-driven maritime projects and a path to grow through Damen Academy.

Responsibilities

Develop new vessel operating manuals and enhance existing documentation
Customize content to meet customer and vessel needs
Conduct literature reviews, expert interviews, and technical analysis to gather information
Interpret manufacturer guidelines and regulatory requirements
Write precise content in English and apply our STE style guide where applicable
Lead documentation projects including planning and budgeting
Ensure timely delivery aligned with customer expectations
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Damen and communicate with stakeholders

Key requirements

Educated at HBO level with a technical background
At least 3 years of experience as a Technical Author
Proficient with Adobe FrameMaker, XML, DITA; CCMS is a plus
Fluent in English with clear writing skills
Familiarity with STE (preferred)
Independent yet collaborative; capable of leading projects and working in teams
Adaptable to shifting priorities
