In this role you will lead the design and delivery of innovative digital platforms within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. You will balance hands-on technical leadership with architecture and stakeholder engagement to drive reusable platform services and scalable backend solutions. You’ll work with product, engineering, and architecture teams to create secure, user-focused digital solutions adaptable across use cases. Expect to influence technical direction, shape architecture, and ensure long-term operational support and interoperability.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement end-to-end technical solutions across the full application lifecycle
Define solution architectures and technical requirements aligned with enterprise architecture standards
Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams and third-party suppliers
Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, Scrum Masters, Architects, and Engineering teams on infrastructure, security, open-source practices, and standards
Identify emerging technologies, industry trends, and relevant standards to drive innovation and improvement
Establish, maintain, and improve processes in line with ISO 27001 and security best practices
Support the development of scalable, reusable platform capabilities and modular components
Ensure solutions are robust, maintainable, accessible, and fit for long-term operational support
Drive successful integration between systems, services, APIs, and data sources
Contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives, validation activities, and iterative product development

Key requirements

Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience
5-8 years of relevant experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or technical leadership
Experience designing and developing modular web-based applications and digital platforms
Strong understanding of software architecture principles and scalable system design
Knowledge of containerised environments and CI/CD practices, including Kubernetes
Experience working with APIs, integrations, data models, and data flows
Knowledge of privacy-by-design and security-by-design principles
Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive digital development practices
Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies in fast-paced and innovative environments
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
Results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering value to end users
