In this role you support complex real estate transactions and tax analyses within EisnerAmper’s National Office Tax team. You’ll blend tax research, technical analysis, and advisory work to move beyond traditional compliance. You will engage with real estate private equity, REITs, and family-office structures, shaping structuring decisions and client guidance. Responsibilities
- Review and analyze tax returns and workpapers, flagging technical issues and research opportunities
- Proactively research tax law changes and industry trends with implications for real estate structures
- Draft technical memoranda and present complex tax concepts clearly to internal stakeholders and clients
- Research and analyze federal income tax issues across real estate, partnerships, REITs, S corporations, and C corporations
- Conduct transactional analysis and tax structuring for acquisitions, restructurings, and dispositions of real estate assets in JV, fund, and REIT structures
- Manage REIT tax structuring and due diligence for real estate transactions
- Advise on like-kind exchanges and reverse like-kind exchanges considering boot and liabilities
- Review fund documents and partnership agreements for tax consequences of economic terms (tax allocations, distributions, etc.)
- Review tax projections, workpapers, and returns for real estate clients including partnerships and REITs
- Monitor legislative and admin updates affecting real estate and related clients, producing internal/external content
Key requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent field
- 3 - 5 years of public accounting experience with exposure to real estate, partnerships, or flow-through taxation
- CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent Certification (preferred)
- Experience with real estate tax topics and advisory work (preferred)
- Experience with tax software GoSystems or CCH Axcess tax (preferred)
- Demonstrated interest in technical tax topics, research, or transaction-related work (preferred)
