As Tax Manager, you will lead tax compliance, planning, and reporting across federal, state, local, and international domains. You will oversee the ASC 740 tax provision and coordinate with accounting to ensure accurate tax accounting. You’ll design planning strategies to reduce liabilities and support business objectives. You will mentor tax staff, manage audits, and partner with finance, legal, and business units. You will stay current on regulatory changes and present insights to senior management, shaping tax strategy and controls.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage tax compliance, including preparation and review of corporate, partnership, and franchise tax returns across federal, state, and local jurisdictions
- Oversee tax provision (ASC 740) and coordinate with the accounting team for accurate tax accounting and reporting
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and support business objectives
- Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff; delegate assignments, review work, and provide feedback
- Coordinate and manage tax audits; respond to inquiries from tax authorities and external auditors
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and business leaders to evaluate tax implications of transactions, restructurings, and new initiatives
- Research and interpret tax laws and regulatory changes; maintain up-to-date knowledge affecting the company
- Prepare and present tax analyses, reports, and recommendations to senior management and the board
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and software providers
- Drive process improvements and implement tax technology to increase accuracy and efficiency
Key requirements
- Bachelor in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Masters in Taxation or CPA/EA preferred
- CPA required or actively pursuing CPA credential
- 7+ years of progressively responsible tax experience
- Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and international tax rules
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing a tax team
- Analytical, problem-solving and research skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience presenting to non-technical stakeholders
- Hands-on experience with tax planning, compliance, audits, and controversy matters
- Strong ethics and commitment to confidentiality and professional standards
