In this role you lead development and operations teams building high-availability AWS services for EU customers as part of the Managed Operations group. You’ll help launch the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) and collaborate with global teams to shape service performance, reliability, and efficiency. You drive automation, coaching, and cross‑functional partnerships to deliver scalable, resilient cloud capabilities. This is a chance to influence AWS services for a mission-critical European initiative.

Responsibilities

Lead team roadmaps and automation goals to enable scalable operations
Provide regular strategic guidance and foster cross‑team collaboration
Analyze system and software performance to identify efficiency gains
Mentor and grow coaching-focused teams with emphasis on ownership
Review key performance metrics to align with business objectives
Prepare teams for launch challenges and opportunities
Drive escalation and on-call coordination when required

Key requirements

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent
Demonstrated software development or systems experience with hands-on design
Experience in systems engineering (virtualization, hardware, OS tuning) and scalable infrastructure or distributed systems
Knowledge of full software development lifecycle practices (coding standards, reviews, SCM, builds, testing, operations)
Experience in high-scale hiring and talent management across multiple disciplines
