In this role you will design and evolve Yusen’s on-premise and cloud infrastructure while hands-on operating and securing the environment. You will lead a systems engineering team, collaborate with software and solution architects, and ensure highly available, scalable, secure infrastructure aligned with the technology roadmap. You’ll drive architectural governance, reference architectures, and modernization efforts including cloud and containerization initiatives. This is a senior, deputy-to-manager position with a clear impact on mission-critical systems and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable reference architectures for compute, storage, virtualization, containers, and cloud platforms
  • Develop and maintain an infrastructure roadmap aligned with enterprise architecture
  • Translate requirements into infrastructure designs and link to program success criteria
  • Create and enforce standards, patterns, and governance across on-premise and cloud
  • Evaluate new technologies via PoCs to guide migrations and investments
  • Collaborate with software engineers, solution architects, and EAs to ensure integrated operation of systems
  • Act as deputy Systems Manager, setting priorities and guiding the team in the manager’s absence
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to systems engineers; support escalation and vendor collaboration
  • Document procedures, configurations, and dependencies; maintain engineering documentation
  • Oversee security, patching, DMZ design, backups, and disaster recovery
  • Automate deployments, backups, security, and monitoring using CI/CD, IaC, and scripting
  • Represent the systems team in architectural reviews and cross-functional forums
  • Travel as needed to major US cities and abroad (Europe, Japan)
  • Support Help Desk and server teams with high-level technical guidance

Key requirements

  • 7-10+ years in a large, multi-site, 24x7 environment with server infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with Windows, UNIX/Linux, and VMware/hypervisor administration
  • Cloud design and deployment experience on Azure and AWS; knowledge of GCP a plus
  • Strong Kubernetes and container orchestration experience; DevOps and CI/CD
  • Experience defining reference architectures, standards, and roadmaps
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and basic MS SQL
  • Industry-relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect) highly desired
  • Experience in logistics or supply chain industry is advantageous
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel internationally
