As SVP Chief Accounting Officer, you will lead GAAP-compliant accounting and financial reporting for PeoplesBank and Cornerstone Bank. You will partner with the CFO to guide multiple entity accounting teams, ensure strong financial controls under FDICIA, and deliver timely insights for decision making. You’ll oversee budgeting, tax compliance, audits, and internal controls, driving continuous improvement. This is a strategic, high-impact role in a culture focused on inclusion, development, and responsible growth. You will shape accounting policies and strengthen regulatory reporting to support the organization’s mission and scale.

Responsibilities

Oversee accounting departments for both banks and ensure accurate financial reporting and policy adherence
Lead and mentor Controllers and Assistant Controllers, and manage the general ledger
Maintain GAAP compliance and advise on changes; perform research on new services/transactions
Oversee internal and external financial reporting, filings, and management-level reports
Manage budgeting process including non-interest income/expense budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements
Supervise ACL, BOLI programs, tax credit investments, and regulatory compliance
Coordinate audits with regulators, external auditors, and tax authorities
Oversee tax compliance and retirement/benefit plan accounting
Implement internal controls over financial reporting under FDICIA
Support leadership development and continuous improvement within the department
Complete compliance training and align with bank policies and service standards
Perform special assignments to support business strategy

Key requirements

Four-year degree and five years accounting experience or equivalent
Five+ years of accounting leadership experience
CPA preferred; bank accounting experience preferred
Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting processes
Experience with corporate tax compliance and tax credits
SOX/FDICIA internal controls experience
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience supervising staff and managing complex financial functions
