In this role you lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for PeoplesBancorp and its banks. You will manage GAAP-compliant reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, internal controls, and audits, partnering with the CFO to deliver timely financial insights for senior leadership. You’ll guide accounting teams across entities, drive continuous improvement, and ensure strong financial governance under FDICIA. This is a strategic, cross-entity leadership role with a focus on accuracy, controls, and transformation.

Responsibilities

Oversee accounting departments for PeoplesBank and Cornerstone Bank, manage ACL, BOLI, tax credit programs, and policy adherence
Lead general ledger maintenance and GAAP compliance; provide GAAP guidance and research for new services/transactions
Coordinate internal and external financial reporting, ensuring timely filings and meaningful management reports
Report to management committees and boards on accounting matters; support budgeting and forecasting
Oversee annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasting; identify improvements to the budget cycle
Manage corporate tax compliance, quarterly estimated payments, and tax filings for the MHC and subsidiaries
Direct audits by regulators, internal and external auditors, and external tax authorities
Maintain accounting for benefit/retirement plans and interpret actuarial reports
Implement and maintain FDICIA internal controls; drive continuous improvement within the department
Develop staffing, training, and mentoring; foster a culture of operational excellence and development

Key requirements

Four-year degree and five years accounting experience or equivalent
Five+ years of relevant accounting leadership experience
CPA and bank accounting experience preferred
Certified Public Accounting designation preferred
Knowledge of Word, Excel, and accounting software
Strong financial acumen; experience with SOX/FDICIA internal controls
