Responsibilities
- Serve as the regional or practice lead for sustainability, acting as the go-to expert for content, leadership and project strategy
- Help define annual ESG objectives, key results and actions
- Lead integrative design processes and workshops, coordinating teams and research like Nature of Place
- Deliver projects that achieve third-party ratings through best practices and performance analysis
- Coordinate technical and analytic work with the Director of Integrated Energy Engineering and regional staff
- Manage project workload, prepare proposals, and support recruitment and staffing for DesignGreen
- Maintain client communication, present design concepts, and guide projects through to outcomes
- Identify and mitigate risks, facilitate team meetings, and ensure timely delivery
- Support offices in aligning ESG objectives with enterprise design and research goals
- Contribute to targeted research activities and data system usability feedback
- Travel as required
Key requirements
- Accredited professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, Sustainable Design or related field; advanced degree preferred
- Professional licensure in architecture or related field preferred
- Typically 8+ years of experience
- Sustainable design accreditation
- Experience with holistic integrative design delivery including charette facilitation and systems thinking
- Familiarity with design and energy modeling tools (Rhino, Grasshopper, Radiance, DIVA, REVIT, AutoCAD, Sketchup, IES VE, Sefaira, Insight360, Energy Plus, EnergyPro) preferred
- Graphic software proficiency (Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, InDesign) preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Experience with LEED, WELL, Living Building submissions and energy modeling
- Knowledge of high-performance standards (ANSI, ASHRAE, IESNA, ASTM) and energy codes (IECC, T24)
- Strong knowledge of building systems, QA/QC, codes, and research/application of technical documents
- Experience in logistics management and coordinating people/resources
- Strong presentation, organizational, and multi-project management skills
- Diplomatic, collaborative leadership and client relationship management
- Excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving and teamwork abilities
- Travel flexibility
