As Staff Software Engineer, you will own and shape broad platform and cloud initiatives across the stack. You’ll partner with engineering teams to improve foundations, architecture, automation, security, and developer experience, driving durable solutions at scale. Your work spans cloud platforms, data pipelines, and orchestration, aligning with the company’s engineering quality and speed goals. You will mentor engineers and provide architectural guidance to raise the overall technical bar. This role offers ownership, impact, and the chance to influence how teams build and operate critical systems.

Responsibilities

Architect and improve cloud foundations on Google Cloud Platform to support scalable, secure workloads
Design and build platform capabilities across GCP, Kubernetes, serverless, CI/CD, GitOps, observability, AI, and developer tooling
Establish and improve GitOps workflows using GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Terraform, Helm, and automated release pipelines
Manage and evolve enterprise Kubernetes clusters with standards, deployment patterns, and security controls
Create reusable Terraform modules, Helm charts, templates, SDKs, and internal tools to reduce manual work
Enhance developer experience with paved roads, self-service workflows, documentation, and standardized environments
Implement secure-by-default patterns for IAM, Workload Identity Federation, secrets, network security, and least-privilege access
Integrate observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry) into software teams
Troubleshoot production issues across apps, infra, data pipelines, cloud services, and deployments
Collaborate with application, data, product, and UX stakeholders to solve complex problems
Support data and AI platform needs (PostgreSQL, dbt, BigQuery, Snowflake, CDC, Data Lakes, etc.)
Maintain infrastructure and DAGs for an orchestration platform at scale (Airflow preferred)
Mentor engineers through code reviews, architecture reviews, pairing, and documentation
Evaluate vendors and tooling with a build-versus-buy mindset and improve cloud cost visibility and FinOps

Key requirements

10+ years of professional software engineering experience
Experience as a senior or staff engineer across multiple domains
Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience, preferably GCP, including Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and production workloads
Strong CI/CD design experience with GitHub Actions, Argo CD, and GitOps
Strong OO programming fundamentals plus Python or Bash scripting
Observability knowledge: metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, SLOs, incident response
Ability to debug across application, infra, data pipelines, networking, deployments, and cloud services
Quick learner with sound technical decision-making under uncertainty
Strong communication and leadership with engineers, PMs, and tech leadership
Pragmatic, fast-moving problem solver
