Experteer Overview

As Optical Engineer at Bruker Nano, you will design and integrate laser-based optical systems for photomask repair and cleaning. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to shape the optical architecture across next-gen products, from concept to commercialization. You’ll build robust, modular subsystems and define tests to prove performance and manufacturability. This role offers hands-on design, prototyping, and cross-disciplinary problem solving in a fast-moving, research-driven environment. You’ll contribute to innovative instrumentation that advances materials and life sciences applications.

Responsibilities

Design and develop optical systems based on optic, photonic and laser technologies
Specify, select, and qualify optical components
Build and test prototype optical systems and integrate with hardware/software teams
Benchmark optical performance and create test procedures
Productize designs for robustness, manufacturability, serviceability and regulatory compliance
Generate design and product documentation
Provide multi-discipline support to production and service to resolve laser/optical issues

Key requirements

MS degree or higher in optics, applied physics, or related field with ≥2 years of experience; or PhD with no experience
Experience with designing and evaluating optical sub-systems using lenses, mirrors, lasers, detectors
Hands-on optical alignment experience, including infrared systems
Experience with ultrafast laser material processing and laser technologies (DUV, IR) in processing equipment or metrology domains
System modeling in SolidWorks, Matlab, LabView; optical simulation with ZEMAX
Strong problem-solving, regulatory awareness, and ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, collaborative environment
Team-oriented, hardworking, creative, and driven to push technological boundaries
