In this role you will execute design work for aerospace-qualified pneumatic valves and control systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet customer specifications. You’ll create and modify designs, develop production drawings, and support testing and qualification activities. The position drives technical solutions from concept through prototype and into production, ensuring performance and safety margins. You will work in a fast-paced, aerospace-focused environment that emphasizes quality, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Create new designs aligned with customer requirements and verify compliance with specifications
- Modify existing pneumatic designs to meet new customer needs
- Provide design solutions to manufacturing and sustainment problems
- Prepare production drawings and associated documentation
- Draft procedures for hardware development, testing, and qualification
- Provide technical and supervisory guidance to project support staff
- Oversee prototype build and development hardware
- Complete engineering documentation for procurement, fabrication and testing
- Perform engineering testing and calculations to ensure performance and safety margins
- Prepare information packages for internal design reviews
- Investigate production problems and propose solutions
- Coordinate and review supplier documentation requirements (SDRL) for reviews
Key requirements
- BSME degree
- 12 years minimum in design and development of pneumatic valves or similar complex assemblies
- Experience in design of detail mechanical components and control valves
- Some project management experience
- Technical writing capability (design reports, test procedures)
- Hands-on assembly, testing and troubleshooting experience
- Electrical and precision testing experience
- GD&T experience on complex assemblies
- SolidWorks CAD knowledge preferred
- ANSYS/FEA knowledge preferred
- Machining, welding, molding, or other manufacturing processes knowledge preferred
