In this role you will provide community paediatric services through the Child Development Centre, contributing to neurodevelopmental and safeguarding clinics and education liaison. You will work across sites, with supervision, to deliver high-quality care and support children with special educational needs. The post offers on-the-job development of special interests and flexible working patterns, including part-time options and no on-call commitment. You will join a multidisciplinary team focused on improving child health pathways and outcomes.

Responsibilities

Run clinics for Statutory Health Assessments for Children in Care
Lead neurodevelopmental clinics and ASD assessments
Provide clinics in schools for children with special needs
Conduct general paediatric clinics
Provide medical advice to education services
Adequate admin time aligned with clinical duties; SPA 1 PA per week; 1 PA DCC per week for development activities
Participate in multi-agency meetings (Team around the Child; child protection conferences)
Nursery and school visits; multidisciplinary meetings for complex needs
Handle clinical administration arising from these activities

Key requirements

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Full GMC registration
Commitment to Continuing Professional Development
Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience, with ≥2 years in paediatrics
Minimum 6 months NHS experience
Excellent communication and prioritisation skills
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and recognise when to consult seniors
Demonstrable general paediatrics experience
