In this role you will help build the next generation of in-memory database services at AWS, focusing on high performance, scalable distributed systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance ElastiCache and MemoryDB, contribute to open-source Valkey, and shape low-latency data platforms. You will tackle challenges in scaling, data replication, sharding, and secure authentication, delivering impact across the AWS UC ecosystem. Responsibilities
- Design and build next-generation in-memory DB services with focus on scaling, replication, and sharding
- Develop robust authentication/authorization mechanisms and maintain data security
- Collaborate with Valkey OSS community to contribute features and performance improvements
- Identify and fix operational gaps, participate in on-call rotations, and drive reliability
- Research and implement optimization strategies for low-latency, high-throughput systems
- Contribute to architecture decisions for horizontal and vertical scaling
- Mentor and support new team members through onboarding and knowledge sharing
- Engage in design reviews and promote inclusive teamwork
Key requirements
- Bachelor in Computer Science
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Experience designing or architecting systems for reliability and scaling
- Knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing principles
