In this role you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive governmental relations and advocacy strategy to advance UT San Antonio's academic, research, health, and community missions. You will coordinate with diverse university leadership to align advocacy with institutional goals and enhance policymakers' visibility and support. You will engage with local, state, and federal governments, shaping public policy to support long‑term priorities. This position offers the opportunity to influence policy at the highest levels with diplomacy, integrity, and strategic communication.

Responsibilities

Develop, direct, and execute a comprehensive governmental relations and advocacy strategy
Secure legislative and regulatory support and shape public policy to advance institutional priorities
Enhance visibility and credibility with policymakers across local, state, and federal levels
Serve as chief integrator of government relations intelligence for the university
Lead engagement with San Antonio City Council, County Commissioners Court, the State Legislature, State Executive Branch, and Congress
Coordinate with SEVP for Research and Innovation and the Federal Relations Consultant on congressional and federal agency engagement
Architect advocacy initiatives originating from the institution and ensure cross‑unit coordination
Collaborate with the President, President's Cabinet, System leadership, and internal stakeholders to align advocacy with goals
