In this role you will lead direct tax compliance and project work for the EMEA region from Basel. You will collaborate with finance, legal, and operations to ensure accurate filings, provisions, and timely cash tax payments. You’ll work with external consultants and global teams to navigate cross-border tax matters and evolving regulations. The position offers impact by supporting Axalta’s sustainability goals and international growth. This is a hands-on, proactive role with exposure to audits, planning, and process improvements that drive compliance and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate, timely tax filings and compliance across EMEA (with emphasis on Germany).
- Prepare and provide documentation to external tax consultants.
- Prepare and review tax provisions and deferred tax calculations in line with international standards.
- Collaborate with finance to plan cash taxes and ensure timely payments.
- Partner with global tax and finance teams on various projects.
- Coordinate with the EMEA accounting team to streamline tax processes and data accuracy.
- Support tax audits and inquiries from authorities.
- Assess tax audit impacts on positions and monitor regulatory changes.
- Work with finance, legal, and operations to align on tax matters and support business initiatives.
- Pursue opportunities to improve tax processes and systems for efficiency and compliance.
Key requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience; Big Four experience beneficial.
- Strong German tax background; German Steuerberater exam beneficial.
- Solid accounting skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in SAP R3.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Hands-on, proactive task and project management.
- Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, large data sets).
- Fluent German and English.
- Location flexibility: Basel (CH), Köln/Wuppertal (DE), or Guntramsdorf (AT).
