In this role you will advance discovery of molecular glue degraders (MGDs) by leading hit generation and follow-up from HTS data. You will work across cross-functional teams to shape SAR and target validation, collaborate with CROs and external partners, and communicate progress to leadership. Your work will help expand MRT’s portfolio and contribute to early-stage drug discovery with a strong emphasis on enabling targets previously deemed undruggable.

Responsibilities

Analyze HTS data to identify starting points for hit generation chemistry from the MGD library
Lead chemistry efforts across multiple early-stage projects in collaboration with discovery scientists
Develop hit follow-up and lead-generation strategies for discovery targets
Create SAR-driven hypotheses to probe target engagement in hit validation
Provide tool compounds and contribute to target validation within a cross-functional team
Assess progressability of chemistry targets and feasibility for optimization
Plan and execute efficient syntheses via CROs and develop streamlined routes
Collaborate with external research partners and communicate findings to senior leadership
Document and publish findings in manuscripts and patents when appropriate

Key requirements

PhD in synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry with 5+ years in pharma/biotech, or MS with 12+ years
Deep experience in HTS analysis and hit follow-up
Familiarity with early-stage pre-clinical drug discovery
Experience collaborating with CROs is essential
High proficiency with databases, data analysis and visualization tools (Spotfire, D360, CDD, Maestro, Pymol)
Proficiency in complex molecule synthesis and/or synthetic method development
Apply state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry design principles to MGD discovery
Excellent teamwork and ability to work in global, cross-disciplinary teams
Strong written and oral communication skills
