In this Senior Privacy Specialist role, you will lead advanced privacy risk assessments and shape mitigation strategies to safeguard patient information and ensure HIPAA compliance across the network. You will develop and maintain privacy policies, coordinate complex investigations, and deliver staff training to embed a culture of privacy. As a subject-matter expert, you’ll support clinical, IT, legal, and compliance teams and mentor junior staff. This position offers the chance to strengthen regulatory adherence and patient trust within a large healthcare network.
Responsibilities
- Lead advanced privacy risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
- Develop, update, and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and HIPAA manuals
- Coordinate and conduct complex privacy investigations including breach response and reporting
- Design and deliver privacy training and awareness programs for staff
- Provide guidance to clinical, IT, legal, and compliance teams on privacy issues
- Mentor and support junior privacy staff
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement privacy safeguards
- Monitor privacy compliance trends and audit findings; recommend corrective actions
- Assist the Director of Privacy Program with privacy audits and strategic planning across the network
- Ensure documentation and reporting of privacy incidents, audit outcomes, and compliance activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
- 3 years of experience in compliance or regulatory management in a large healthcare facility
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred)
- Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) and Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
- Knowledge of HIPAA and federal/state regulations for hospitals and physician practices
