In this role you will contribute to designing, testing, and integrating opto-mechanical systems for high-precision optical components. You work with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver feasible, cost-conscious solutions within clean-room assembly environments. You will translate requirements into detailed mechanical and optical designs, and validate performance through analyses and tests. This position supports G&H's mission to deliver precision optics for life sciences, industrial, and defense applications, offering impactful work on challenging, real-world systems. You will shape developments at scale in a world-leading optics company.

Responsibilities

Conduct research, create design proposals, troubleshoot issues, and perform quality control on opto-mechanical systems
Design, analyze, and test opto-mechanical systems
Develop detailed mechanical and opto-mechanical designs
Create and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Collaborate with optical and mechanical engineers to integrate components
Perform system analysis to assess feasibility within time and cost constraints
Conduct performance tests and system integration
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams
Ensure all projects conform to policies and objectives

Key requirements

Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or equivalent
Minimum 10 years' experience in opto-mechanical design and development of optical systems layout
Experience in Opto-mechanical engineering, Optical Systems, Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)
Handling and securing Unclassified Controlled Information (CUI) and ITAR
Designing for precision manufacturing processes
Proven technical aptitude and strong cross-team communication
Ability to blend analytical thinking with practical judgment
