In this role you will lead global medical strategy for Biogen’s nephrology programs, shaping launch plans for Glomerular nephritis therapies such as IgAN and PMN. You’ll partner with external nephrology experts and cross-functional teams to generate insights, drive evidence generation, and support dissemination of data. The role blends scientific leadership with strategic execution to advance Biogen’s position in nephrology and improve patient outcomes. A key hook is shaping medical leadership across global launches while engaging diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong partnerships with nephrology experts to inform medical and cross-functional plans
  • Develop and align medical strategies for clinical development and launch activities in Glomerular nephritis (IgAN, PMN)
  • Lead high-impact medical activities (advisory boards, medical education, research projects, KME engagement)
  • Collaborate with clinical development and operations to enhance site engagement and identify centers of excellence
  • Lead evidence generation efforts including investigator-initiated studies and Phase 4 research
  • Coordinate with scientific communications to support publication plans and education strategies
  • Identify and foster collaborations with external stakeholders including healthcare and patient advocacy groups
  • May have direct reports

Key requirements

  • Advanced degree: MD, PhD or PharmD
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably in a headquarters-based Global Medical Affairs role
  • Experience in developing and executing a Global medical affairs plan
  • Proven ability to lead and align global, regional, and affiliate medical activities
  • Ability to work independently and progress key projects with limited direction
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and risk-sharing mindset
  • Excellent communication with diplomacy and ability to bridge science and relationships
  • Solid knowledge of ex-US regulations relevant to Medical Affairs
  • Ability to work across time zones and travel 30-40%
