As Senior Grant Writer in our Municipal group, you help Texas communities secure funding for critical infrastructure and public improvement projects. You collaborate with municipal clients, technical teams, and funding agencies to identify opportunities, guide applications, and drive successful outcomes. You will lead complex grant efforts, mentor junior writers, and serve as the subject-matter expert on program requirements. This role offers impact at scale, shaping funded projects that improve communities and quality of life.

Responsibilities
- Research funding opportunities and become fully knowledgeable on assigned programs
- Lead meetings with internal/external clients and program contacts
- Prepare funding applications (narratives, forms, supporting documents) and coordinate components
- Communicate requirements to team and assemble complete, competitive applications
- Perform site visits as needed and capture project context for applications
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, quality, and timeliness of tasks; meet productivity standards
- Quality control/quality assurance for assigned tasks
- Maintain relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, communities, and contractors
- Lead and manage complex grant applications and teams of writers; act as SME on programs
- Manage a Grant Writer team or delegate work; engage with clients directly
- Prepare proposals and assist in securing contracts; contribute to pricing and marketing strategies
- Work independently when needed and make decisions with minimal oversight
- Assist with staff training
Key requirements
- Bachelor in English, Political Science, Philosophy, Public Administration or related field
- 3+ years in related field
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Proficiency in English for communication
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat)
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Intermediate grant writing and grant management with local governments and civil engineering
- Experience with FHWA, FEMA, HUD CDBG, EPA Brownfields, USDA, and EPA SRF programs preferred
- Advanced writing and research skills and proactive communication
- Ability to work independently and in a team; ownership of work and time management
- Knowledge of grants-related concepts, theories, principles and practices; investigative/analytical skills
