In this Senior Environmental Planner role, you lead large-scale CEQA & NEPA documentation across diverse project types, guiding a sector team and ensuring quality through pro-active project management. You mentor staff, coordinate recruitment and development, and align technical work with client needs. You’ll shape business development priorities with leadership to maximize ROI while upholding a strong safety and quality culture. This is a chance to contribute to meaningful environmental planning work within an employee-owned, collaborative organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage CEQA & NEPA document preparation for a wide range of projects
  • Supervise sector activities, improve performance, manage staff utilization and profitability
  • Track personnel actions and staff development including recruiting and training
  • Lead sector quality control and implement corrective measures
  • Mentor teams and bridge technical resources with client requirements
  • Collaborate with client development leadership to prioritize marketing and business development
  • Champion a quality culture within the sector and production teams
  • Direct technical messaging and participate in professional organizations and events
  • Promote safety culture (Drive to Zero) for staff and clients
  • Interpret, implement, and enforce company policies
  • Perform other duties as needed

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • 10+ years in environmental technical writing and CEQA/NEPA document prep
  • Strong knowledge of endangered species act and regulatory permitting
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities
  • Experience with environmental impact issues, permits, and documentation prep/review
  • Commitment to employee-owned culture
