In this role you will lead the design, engineering, and operation of enterprise directory services to ensure security, stability, and scalability across multiple environments. You will act as a technical expert in Identity and Access Management, guiding complex initiatives like multi-forest management, M&A integrations, and hybrid cloud adoption. You will partner with security and networking teams to align directory services with policy and risk requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role that shapes standards, roadmaps, and modernization efforts with real operational impact.

Responsibilities

Own the engineering, design, and lifecycle management of directory services platforms (Active Directory, Azure AD, and cloud directories)
Manage multi-forest architectures and cross-entity trusts, including migration planning and post-migration stabilization
Establish technical standards, architectural roadmaps, and best practices for directory services
Lead resolution of complex authentication, replication, and integration issues
Partner with networking and security teams to ensure alignment with security and compliance requirements
Develop automation for provisioning, monitoring, and validation to reduce risk and improve efficiency
Mentor junior engineers and provide escalation support for directory-related issues
Plan and execute strategic initiatives such as forest/domain redesign and hybrid identity adoption

Key requirements

Advanced expertise in directory services architecture, replication, and troubleshooting (Active Directory and related platforms)
Strong knowledge of Group Policy, Kerberos, trusts, and PKI
Proficiency with PowerShell and automation frameworks
Experience with Azure Active Directory and hybrid identity in multi-cloud environments
Familiarity with identity federation and modern authentication protocols (SAML, OIDC, OAuth)
Experience with multi-forest and multi-entity trust models, migrations, and consolidations
Ability to balance technical execution with architectural planning and standards development
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Hands-on experience leading directory services projects with enterprise impact
Bachelor’s degree plus 7+ years in directory services; relevant certifications preferred
