As Senior Accountant at Aspire Software in Vienna, you will strengthen our financial foundation to support data-driven decision making. You’ll collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely, accurate reporting and robust controls across period close, reconciliations, and tax/compliance tasks. You’ll work with cross-functional stakeholders to streamline workflows and drive operational efficiency in a hybrid setup. This role offers impact through improving financial processes and enabling scalable growth for a diverse software portfolio.

Responsibilities

Perform financial period close tasks and complex journal entries/accounting analysis
Conduct Balance Sheet analyses and reconciliations
Record AP/AR data and ensure timely, correct invoicing in the ERP
Follow up with vendors on missing invoices and manage cost accruals for P&L review
Process payments and bank transfers with proper approvals
Reconcile expense reports, credit cards, invoices, and inter-company transactions
Ensure key controls and procedures are implemented
Prepare financial KPIs and review for accuracy
Prepare monthly VAT returns in line with government legislation
Participate in audits and compliance activities; liaise with tax advisors
Provide information for ad-hoc performance analysis and management reporting
Perform variance analyses against budgets and forecasts

Key requirements

3+ years of experience in Financial Accounting
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (desirable)
Professional qualification in bookkeeping/accounting an asset
Proficiency in accrual accounting theory and practice (asset)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Detail-oriented, problem solver with proactive mindset
Able to learn new systems quickly and grow with the role
Interest in automation and workflow efficiency
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
English and German language skills at professional level (written and spoken)
Legal authorization to work in Austria
