In this role you apply AI-based perception, world modeling and state estimation to support autonomous driving. You will work within the World Modelling and Vehicle Control team to translate algorithms into robust prototypes and real-time systems. You will contribute to safety-focused design practices and collaborate with partners to transfer technology to customer projects. You will tackle multi-sensor fusion, road and environment modeling, and prediction tasks that enable safer, smarter mobility. This is a hands-on research-to-implementation role with a clear impact on CCAM and safety goals.

Responsibilities

Research AI-based perception and world modeling for vehicle and surroundings states (estimation and prediction)
Design, implement and evaluate multi-sensor fusion and state estimation algorithms for localization and road/environment modeling
Plan and perform testing activities including vehicle instrumentation, data collection, simulation, and on-vehicle validation
Derive functional requirements and safety-by-design frameworks for autonomy function clusters
Disseminate outcomes via workshops, conferences, journals and technical reports; ensure practical implementation and transfer to customer projects

Key requirements

Master in Mechanical engineering or Robotics (or similar)
Experience in robotics or automotive research domain
Experience with state estimation and filtering techniques
Programming proficiency in C++ and/or Python
Willingness to work on-site at Helmond at least 50% of the time
Effective communication and ability to collaborate across teams
Mature writing and presentation skills in Dutch and English
