In this role you will develop next-generation RO/NF membrane materials within the FilmTec team, advancing technology from concept to commercialization. You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and commercial units to translate customer needs into viable products. You’ll tackle structure–property–performance questions to improve durability and function, contributing to sustainable water solutions at scale. This is a chance to shape membrane innovations that address critical water challenges and industrial applications.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate technical opportunities via literature reviews, competitive intelligence, and experiments
- Design, synthesize, and test novel RO/NF membrane materials at bench, pilot, and manufacturing scales
- Develop structure–property–performance understanding to improve membrane durability
- Collaborate with analytical scientists to characterize structure, composition, morphology, and performance
- Advance technologies through a stage-gate process from concept to commercialization
- Work with customers and application experts to design performance-based experiments
- Partner with global manufacturing sites to assess and implement process improvements
- Apply statistical methods and data-driven approaches to experimental design and decision-making
- Maintain thorough technical documentation of research activities
- Communicate findings to diverse audiences including business leaders
Key requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related discipline
- Strong foundation in organic chemistry and polymer chemistry
- Experience in organic synthesis, polymer formation, and structure–property relationships
- Understanding of chemical stability and degradation mechanisms
- Ability to design and execute research programs independently and collaboratively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to thrive in dynamic, priority-shifted environments
- Fluent in written and spoken English
