In this role you will advance polyurethane and silane adhesive technologies for automotive applications, working within DuPont’s Automotive Adhesives R&D team. You will collaborate across functions to drive new product development, ensure regulatory and safety compliance, and support material sourcing and tech transfer. The position focuses on meeting precise specifications for OEM and Tier supplier standards while enabling localization and scale-up activities. This is a hands-on lab role with emphasis on testing, data analysis, and continuous improvement to strengthen product offerings and manufacturing support.

Responsibilities

Advance adhesive technologies for polyurethane and silane systems to meet specifications and OEM/ Tier supplier standards
Conduct adhesive testing and analyze performance using appropriate equipment
Collaborate across sales, marketing, production, engineering, and QA to develop new products and improve testing procedures
Ensure products comply with safety regulations and industry standards
Support double-sourcing of raw materials, qualify multiple alternatives, and guide procurement and product management
Support localization projects to meet local regulatory and market needs
Assist with scale-up activities during commercial launches and oversee manufacturing processes
Provide technical support for technology transfer to new production sites
Engage with production and quality assurance to drive process improvements
Apply DOE, DFMEA, and statistical analysis tools to design experiments and analyze results

Key requirements

Bachelor in Chemistry, Material Science, or a related technical field
Proven experience in polyurethane-based adhesive technologies
Understanding of automotive adhesive applications in transportation
Proficiency in English and German; additional languages beneficial
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and technical service operations knowledge
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders
Experience working with production and QA teams and with mechanical testing processes
Hands-on lab experience compliant with EH&S standards
Familiarity with statistical software and data visualization tools (e.g., JMP) and DOE/DFMEA concepts
Ability to troubleshoot technical claims and develop new testing methodologies
Skill in identifying gaps in evaluation processes and developing robust test protocols
