Experteer Overview
As Project Estimator, you determine the cost price for maritime projects to support winning bids and planning. You work in a small team within Sales to translate customer data into accurate budgets and timelines. You will interact with customers, purchasing, and production to ensure data-driven quotes while managing risk of loss-making projects. The role blends technical estimation with commercial insight in a dynamic shipyard setting. This position offers development in an international, no-nonsense environment.

Responsibilities
- Independently prepare quotations for repair, maintenance, conversions and construction works using customer data
- Analyze provided technical specifications and drawings and clarify scope with the customer
- Collaborate with purchasing, subcontractors, and suppliers to build an optimal total budget considering vessel timing
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits; travel may be required
- Produce timely, accurate cost calculations and articulate technical specifications
- Collect tender documents and prepare counter specifications when needed
- Plan and monitor delivery of calculations and deliverables; provide project planning when requested
- Provide preliminary engineering data in collaboration with work preparation and production
- Stay updated on developments in estimation methods and ship repair techniques
- Consult internal files and request timely quotes from suppliers; visit ships to verify data as needed
- Contribute to customer consultations on scope, feasibility, and wishes to support complete quotes
- Prepare final budgets and ensure cost competitiveness and risk mitigation
Key requirements
- Engineering, Shipbuilding, Technical Business Administration or equivalent
- Knowledge of estimating and cost structures or willingness to learn
- Proficient in English (spoken and written)
- Knowledge of MS Excel and MS Projects; other relevant software
- Experience in ship repair or a technical environment; several years is advantageous
- Mechanical or naval engineering background
- Ability to work in a team with a service-driven, flexible attitude
- Strong analytical and planning skills
- Knowledge of the ship repair market or willingness to learn
