As a Principal Scientist, you will define and drive Sartorius’ E&L strategy across products and services to strengthen scientific leadership. You will bridge science, product development, regulatory expectations, and customer needs to reduce experimental burden through predictive, mechanistic approaches. You will act as a global expert and primary internal/external voice, shaping collaborations and advancing E&L methodologies for single-use systems. This role offers high impact via industry influence, strategic leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the E&L strategy aligned with product roadmaps to guide business direction
Advance mechanistic and data-driven E&L methodologies including predictive models
Incorporate toxicological data into risk and safety frameworks for smarter decisions
Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and technologies to pinpoint opportunities
Act as a Key Opinion Leader in consortia, publications, and conferences
Lead high-level technical discussions with customers and influence product qualification strategies
Build and leverage networks and mentor scientists to transfer knowledge across functions

Key requirements

PhD with at least 10 years of experience or Master’s with at least 12 years of experience
Global expert in Extractables & Leachables, materials science, or related field with strong track record
Deep expertise in E&L science, polymer/material chemistry, biopharma processes, and toxicology concepts
Strong understanding of GMP and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and biopharma manufacturing
Experience in modeling, data-driven approaches, or digital tools and translating science into business impact
Excellent communication and influencing skills across diverse stakeholders; strong mentoring abilities
Exceptional problem-solving, autonomous decision-making, and scientific credibility
Fluent in English; additional languages beneficial
