In this role you will lead advanced motion planning research and develop production-ready algorithms for autonomous driving. You collaborate across perception, prediction, trajectory optimization, and control to deliver safe, comfortable, and intuitive routes in complex environments. You will shape interfaces, architectures, and high-performance codebases to enable scalable deployment and real-world impact. This is a chance to influence the design of planning systems at scale within a mission-driven, innovative team.

Tasks

  • Lead R&D of novel motion planning algorithms and subsystems to expand the Operational Design Domain
  • Architect and integrate combinations of planning and prediction algorithms for real-world deployment
  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust, high-performance codebase for rapid exploration and evaluation
  • Drive cross-functional projects and define interfaces with perception, prediction, trajectory optimization, and control
  • Monitor system performance and develop technical strategies to address deficiencies
  • Teach and mentor teammates to promote rigorous, product-focused engineering and best practices
  • Guide cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end solutions

Key requirements

  • PhD preferred in Robotics, CS, CE, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or Master’s with 7+ years in robotics (AV industry)
  • 10+ years of robotics/motion planning research experience with a track record of significant projects
  • 5+ years of C++ software development with focus on high-performance, reliable systems
  • Experience owning and leading complex features from problem formulation to deployment in production
  • Strong drive to push autonomous driving technology and act as a technical thought leader
