Experteer Overview
In this Principal Engineer role, you will lead the design and technical direction for fluid controls and actuation products. You’ll provide innovative solutions for New Product Development, mentor engineers, and guide cross-functional teams through technical reviews. You will work with internal stakeholders and customers to deliver feasible, robust designs and supporting documentation. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position at the core of our engineering excellence and innovation in aerospace and defense.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical proposals with deliverables such as Technical Volumes, Compliance Matrices, Risk Registers and Work Breakdown Structures
- Assess initial technical feasibility for new fluid controls and actuation proposals
- Mentor and train engineering team; support growth and innovation
- Guide engineering team through formal technical reviews with suppliers, customers, and internal functions
- Review and approve technical drawings/documentation through the Change Control Board
- Provide technical support to Engineering and Production
- Design innovative solutions for complex fluid control and actuation proposals using multidomain simulation tools
- Advise on R&D projects, technology roadmaps, and continuous technical improvement
Key requirements
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Experience in non-recurring estimation
- Experience in program management fundamentals (schedule, cost, quality)
- Proficiency with SolidWorks (3D Modeling/Assembly & 2D Drawing), MathCAD, Simulink; other engineering tools are acceptable
- Experience in hydraulic and/or pneumatic product design and development
- Familiarity with DFMEA, VAVE, DFM and requirements management
- Hydraulic/pneumatic component/system sizing, design and performance analysis
- Basic stress and flow analysis; testing and development of hydraulic/pneumatic test setups, DAQ, instrumentation
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 & RTCA-DO-160 Design Verification and Validation
- Knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes and post processing
- Basic electronics knowledge and LabView or equivalent control software
- Expert troubleshooting of hydraulic/pneumatic components or systems
- Experience with solenoid and/or BLDC motor sizing/design is a plus
