In this role you will provide 24/7 trauma and acute care surgery coverage at a Level II center within a leading healthcare system. You will evaluate, resuscitate, operate on, and manage trauma and general surgery patients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality outcomes. The position supports education, research, and leadership development within a mission-driven system focused on trauma, acute care surgery, and critical care. You will work in a diverse case mix with autonomy and access to advanced resources, contributing to regional trauma care advancement.

Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 trauma and acute care surgery coverage with in-house call as scheduled
- Perform evaluation, resuscitation, operative and non-operative management of trauma patients
- Care for emergency general surgery and surgical critical care patients as assigned
- Collaborate with leadership, nursing, APPs, and staff to optimize outcomes
- Participate in trauma activations, massive transfusion protocol, and rounds
- Document care activities per hospital and regulatory standards
- Engage in trauma performance improvement and patient safety activities
- Support center verification and designation processes
- Educate residents, APPs, and nurses; participate in community injury prevention
Key requirements
- Medical Degree (MD/DO) from an accredited institution
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency
- Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care or Trauma Surgery preferred
- Unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license
- Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery (and Surgical Critical Care if applicable)
- ATLS certification required; instructor status preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent trauma or acute care surgery experience preferred
