Experteer Overview
In this role, you will anchor automation across a16z's security organization, connecting tools, centralizing data, and building AI-enabled dashboards and automations to scale security operations. You will work closely with security engineering, incident response, SecOps, IT, and the Applied Software Group to deliver a unified security picture. This is an AI-native position, leveraging LLMs and agentic automation to multiply the team's impact. The role focuses on reducing toil and enabling proactive protection for the firm, LPs, and portfolio companies.

Responsibilities
- Connect security tools (SIEM, vulnerability scanners, EDR, identity, asset management, ticketing) into a single, actionable data picture
- Centralize security data and build dashboards and AI-native automations for scalable operations
- Develop AI-assisted workflows and analysis as core building blocks, enabling compound leverage
- Create frameworks and dashboards that unify asset inventory, vulnerability posture, exposure reviews, and compliance evidence
- Automate larger security processes at scale (vulnerability management, asset hygiene, access reviews) across multiple tools
- Raise team leverage by sharing patterns and tooling, enabling others to add AI into their work
Key requirements
- 5+ years of security engineering with automation and tool-building as a core focus
- Production-quality security tooling with a builder mindset (e.g., Python)
- Hands-on experience integrating AI/LLMs into workflows
- Broad security fundamentals across cloud security, detection engineering, identity, and vulnerability management
- Understanding of AI security risks (prompt injection, data exfiltration, agent identity boundaries, model risk)
- Ability to translate technical security concepts to non-technical audiences
- Low ego, high empathy with cross-functional collaboration skills
