Experteer Overview
In this entry-level geological role you support exploration, resource definition, and production geology to help safely and efficiently define ore reserves. You work with a technical team across near-mine and in-mine programs, gaining hands-on experience in data collection, interpretation, and field geology. You contribute to drilling, logging, sampling, and data management while developing technical skills under supervision. Responsibilities
- Collect geological data via mapping, sampling, and logging of RC/core drilling under limited supervision
- Assist with grade control, exploration, resource definition, or production geology programs
- Support drilling plans, field supervision, sampling, and data collection
- Compile, enter, and validate geological, sampling, and drilling data in databases
- Perform basic QA/QC on geological data under guidance
- Use geological software to enter, review, and interrogate drillhole data
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports related to geology, drilling, or exploration
- Support data reconciliation and information organization for engineering and operations
- Provide geological information to other departments as directed
- Resolve routine technical questions by following procedures and escalate complex issues
- Assist with small projects related to drilling, mapping, or data management
- Maintain accurate field notes and databases per company standards
- Develop technical skills through training and mentoring
- Maintain awareness of technology, industry practices, and regulatory requirements
Key requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Geology, Earth Science, Geological Engineering, or related field
- Experience in mining, exploration, geology, or field work
- Basic knowledge of drilling, logging, sampling, and assaying methods
- Exposure to geological databases and mining/modelling software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Leapfrog, acQuire, or similar (preferred)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices in field/industrial work
- Ability to follow established procedures and work under supervision while developing technical skills
