In this role you will assume full commercial responsibility for a major data centre project, collaborating with the Contracts Manager, Project Manager and construction team to safeguard commercial outcomes. You will lead the commercial and cost management of MEP packages, shaping strategy and overseeing procurement, subcontractors, variations, and final accounts. You’ll produce forecasts, reports and CVRs while mitigating risks and supporting value engineering. The position offers international exposure with a leading contractor and rewards accurate reporting, strong client relationships and robust site controls. Responsibilities
- Lead all commercial and cost management activities for MEP packages from inception to completion
- Develop, implement, and adapt the commercial strategy as the project progresses
- Manage procurement processes including tenders and subcontractor finalisation
- Oversee subcontractor valuations, invoices, variations, and final accounts
- Produce accurate financial forecasts, cost reports, and CVR reconciliations
- Ensure proper documentation of variations and reporting
- Regularly update and finalise project accounts per company processes
- Support value engineering and design development to optimise delivery
- Maintain robust site records, document control, and compliance with insurance and warranties
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks while capitalising on opportunities
- Provide timely commercial reporting to senior management and stakeholders
Key requirements
- 7+ years as a Quantity Surveyor with strong MEP or building services background
- Experience on data centre or large-scale, complex construction projects preferred
- In-depth knowledge of contracts such as JCT or NEC
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure project environment
- Excellent stakeholder management and reporting capabilities
