In this role you will design and develop mechanical components for smart glasses and wearable devices, using NX. You will produce detailed 2D drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and perform basic FEA to validate designs. You will build and test prototypes, collaborating with electrical, optical, firmware and industrial design engineers. You will support design reviews, tolerance stack-ups, and DFM/ DFA evaluations, and document decisions and results. This on-site role in New York offers a hands-on chance to shape next-generation wearables.

Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for smart glasses and wearables using NX (Siemens)
Create detailed 2D drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5
Perform basic stress analysis (FEA) to validate designs
Build and assemble prototypes using hand tools and lab equipment
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, optical, firmware, industrial design)
Support design reviews, tolerance stack-ups, and DFM/DFA evaluations
Troubleshoot mechanical issues during prototyping and testing
Document design decisions, test results, and lessons learned

Key requirements

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Proficiency in NX (Siemens) CAD for 3D modeling and 2D drafting
Working knowledge of GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5)
Basic understanding of electronics (PCBs, connectors, flex circuits, sensors)
Hands-on experience with hand tools, prototyping, and mechanical assembly
Exposure to stress analysis / FEA tools (NX Nastran, ANSYS, or similar)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
