Experteer Overview
In this role you will lead PHMC’s enterprise risk management, insurance, and compliance programs to safeguard people, operations, and assets. You will advise the CEO and Board on risk, ethics, and governance while coordinating across Legal, Finance, and Operations. You will build and monitor risk frameworks, oversee incident response, and drive organization-wide safety and training initiatives. This position offers visibility at the highest level to shape risk strategy and protect PHMC’s mission across multiple service lines.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an enterprise risk management framework covering operational, financial, regulatory, reputational, and workforce-related risks
- Identify, assess, prioritize, and monitor risks across all units and subsidiaries
- Communicate risk exposure and mitigation to executive leadership and the Board
- Lead corrective action plans to address risks and compliance gaps
- Manage insurance portfolio (property, general liability, professional liability, D&O, workers’ comp, cyber, etc.) and review indemnification requirements in contracts
- Negotiate coverage terms with brokers/carriers; oversee renewals and underwriting submissions
- Oversee safety programs and regulatory compliance
- Direct investigations of significant incidents and large-loss claims; perform root cause analysis
- Establish risk, safety, and compliance metrics and dashboards
- Provide risk, compliance, and safety training for staff and leadership
- Advise the CEO and Leadership Team; provide independent board reporting as requested
- Promote accountability, ethical conduct, and proactive risk mitigation across PHMC
Key requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred in Risk Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Law, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in risk management, compliance, insurance, or related disciplines
- Experience advising executive leadership and Boards of Directors
- Experience in complex, multi-site nonprofit/public health/healthcare-adjacent organizations preferred
