In this role you will lead a data semantics platform team to deliver a scalable, self-service data foundation that unifies telemetry data. You’ll partner with product and engineering to advance OpenTelemetry integration and AI-enabled capabilities, enabling faster feature delivery and safer migrations. You will shape the roadmap, drive cross-team alignment, and mentor a distributed engineering crew to build reliable, high-throughput systems. This is a chance to impact how customers discover and interact with data across Datadog’s product suite.

Responsibilities

Lead and scale a high-performing team of 8 engineers, fostering leadership and technical ownership
Drive the technical roadmap for the Data Semantics platform aligned with observability, OpenTelemetry, and AI-driven use cases
Expand scope to support broader engineering initiatives, maximizing platform capabilities and customer impact
Serve as a technical leader, participate in on-call rotations, tackle complex challenges, and guide architectural decisions for distributed, real-time systems
Contribute to engineering-wide standards and long-term platform direction as part of the engineering management team

Key requirements

Proven track record of leading engineering teams to deliver high-impact outcomes
Experience growing senior engineers and emerging leaders with strong technical ownership
Strong backend/platform systems background in data-intensive or distributed environments; focus on reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance
Experience driving cross-team initiatives with multiple stakeholders
Excellent communicator who can simplify complex topics for engineers, product partners, and senior leadership
Product-oriented mindset with ability to define and execute a roadmap linking platform investments to customer value
