In this role you influence public policy to support Williams-Sonoma’s retail and manufacturing operations. You will monitor legislation, analyze policy impacts, and craft communications while coordinating with internal teams and external groups to advance favorable business conditions. You’ll shape advocacy strategy, build government and industry coalitions, and manage budgets and timelines for government affairs initiatives. This is a cross-functional, policy-driven leadership position in a San Francisco office with a strong People First culture.

Responsibilities
- Track and analyze federal, state, and local legislation and regulations affecting retail operations, supply chains, and consumer engagement
- Develop and implement strategies to advocate for the company’s positions and shape public policy
- Build and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, and stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal departments (stores, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, real estate, legal, PR, investor relations, leadership) to align advocacy with business objectives
- Create and deliver presentations, reports, and communications to officials and the public
- Partner with industry organizations and trade associations to form coalitions and amplify advocacy efforts
- Manage budget, resources, and timelines for government affairs initiatives
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, communications, business, or related field (preferred)
- Several years of experience in government relations, public policy, or legislative analysis (retail or regulated industry preferred)
- Strong understanding of government processes and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and critical thinking abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Onsite in San Francisco office Monday–Thursday (Friday optional)
