In this role you will identify and assess external innovation aligned with Almirall’s R&D and commercial goals, bridging science and business to shape the company’s future pipeline. You will lead cross-functional teams, build external partnerships, and drive strategic decisions across pre-clinical and clinical assets. You’ll represent Almirall at industry events, maintain a proactive scouting network, and ensure action-oriented deal framing from early conversations through due diligence. This is a high-impact, globally oriented role focused on dermatology-related opportunities and cross-functional value creation.
Responsibilities
- Lead systematic global scouting of biotech/pharma companies (excluding China) to identify actionable pre-clinical and clinical assets
- Define and implement a scalable scouting strategy to sustain a steady flow of opportunities
- Maintain up-to-date landscape awareness across pre-clinical and clinical opportunities in areas of interest
- Translate scientific insights into actionable opportunities and present strategic rationale to triage teams
- Frame potential collaboration paths during initial external engagements and ensure actionable outcomes
- Maintain regular external contacts with BD professionals, VCs, academic centers, and dermatology experts
- Represent Almirall at conventions, partnering meetings, and roadshows with a strategy to maximize opportunity progression
- Coordinate cross-functional due diligence, aligning scientific and commercial perspectives for decision-making
- Prepare opportunity summaries and memos for internal governance and approvals
- Drive due diligence and participate in negotiation with legal, finance, and senior BD leadership
- Ensure seamless handoff and integration of licensed assets with internal project teams
Key requirements
- 10+ years of pharma experience in R&D, ideally dermatology or immunology
- ≥5 years in scouting or related licensing/investment roles with leading cross-functional teams
- Proven track record in identifying assets and advancing through due diligence
- Experience in deal evaluation, closing collaborations, or strategic partnerships
- Background in investment, partnering, or licensing; VC or consulting background a plus
