As Lead Project Engineer in Honeywell’s Design Engineering group, you will steer development programs and drive continuous improvement across a diverse product portfolio. You will work cross-functionally in a matrix environment to ensure technical, schedule, and cost objectives are met, while aligning with Manufacturing and program management. You’ll participate in design reviews and apply DFM/DFR principles to manufacturability and reliability. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge defense electronics and a culture of excellence and collaboration. You will help shape program performance and lead improvements in engineering metrics.

Responsibilities

Oversee engineering activities on development programs in coordination with program management to meet technical, schedule, and cost objectives (DTUPC).
Develop and maintain detailed program schedules and engineering work plans with the lead engineer.
Update schedules continuously, identify issues, and implement workarounds with the team to protect objectives.
Participate in design reviews and ensure DFM/DFR principles are applied with manufacturing engineering.
Coordinate drawing and material releases across engineering, drafting, and material planning.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement efforts (Kaizen, A3, etc.) across engineering development, test readiness, and production readiness.
Manage engineering KPI data collection and reporting for development programs and drive performance improvements.
Lead engineering management efforts for R&D projects and drive cross-functional collaboration in a high-tech environment.

Key requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
Five (5) years of development/program and/or product experience
Four (4) years coordinating multi-discipline engineering development teams in a high-tech manufacturing company
Five (5) years of experience with electronics or electro-mechanical design & manufacture
Five (5) years experience in managing technical efforts, including scheduling and action items for development programs
Ability to gain security clearance (US person requirement)

Effective cross-functional communication Collaboration and teamwork in a matrix organization Strategic problem-solving and decision making Microsoft Project Program management experience Experience with LCM and/or Stage-Gate methodology
