In this role, you lead environmental air quality initiatives within WSP’s Earth & Environment team, driving complex permitting and compliance projects. You work with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to shape regulatory strategies and ensure high-quality deliverables. You’ll engage in public meetings, evaluate emissions controls, and mentor staff while advancing client objectives. This position blends technical leadership with stakeholder collaboration to help clients navigate federal and state air quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex air quality permitting and compliance projects
- Determine regulatory applicability and develop compliance strategies for federal and state levels
- Interface with state agencies and EPA on behalf of clients
- Collaborate with colleagues, external partners, and attorneys to support clients’ air quality needs
- Advocate for clients by keeping them informed of regulatory developments impacting their business
- Participate in public meetings and hearings on behalf of clients
- Calculate emissions and evaluate air emissions control technologies
- Participate in environmental compliance audits
- Perform QA/QC of technical work
- Mentor technical staff for professional development
Key requirements
- 7+ years of experience
- Bachelor in environmental engineering, environmental science or related degree
- Excellent technical writing and clear communication
- Ability to manage project teams and interact with client teams
- Timely delivery of high-quality work, often independently
- Willingness to travel for site visits and open houses
- Motivation, positive attitude, willingness to learn and take on responsibility
- Ability to lead as team lead or work independently in various teams
